Dimensional Weight Calculator
Calculate dimensional weight for packages and determine chargeable weight
Input
Dim Weight (kg)
10 kg
Chargeable Weight (kg)
10 kg
Formula
Dim Weight = (Length × Width × Height) ÷ 6000, Chargeable = Max(Actual Weight, Dim Weight)
FAQ
What is dimensional weight?
Dimensional (dim) weight is a 'virtual weight' calculated from package dimensions. Carriers use it to ensure large but light packages pay fair shipping.
Why divide by 6000?
6000 is the international volumetric factor (some carriers use 5000). It represents that 6000 cm³ of package space equals 1 kg of billable weight.
Which weight is used for shipping?
The larger of actual weight and dimensional weight. Light but large packages are billed by dim weight; heavy but small ones by actual weight.
